I have a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, and I am a qualified accountant (CIPFA) and teacher. I completed the Publishing Training Centre’s Basic Proofreading course in 2010, and subsequently attended the SfEP Proofreading Problems course. But I have been proofreading and editing various types of material for many years, for example CIPFA Projects (rather like accounting dissertations), an MBA dissertation, a large number of audit reports, published material for the local council, and stories published in a fiction magazine. In addition, I co-authored two books on contract bridge and prepared both of those to camera-ready copy stage.

My services are predominantly proofreading but I am also able to carry out straightforward editing. I have a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Cancer Biochemistry, and during many years as a postdoctoral researcher have written and edited all types of scientific documents, including book chapters, reviews, scientific papers and grant applications. I have attended several SfEP courses and am currently undertaking the Publishing Training Centre's Copy-Editing course.

I have more than ten years’ experience in communications – as a Press Officer in a busy Whitehall government department (the Home Office) and at one of the biggest international criminal trials ever seen (the Lockerbie bombing trial in Holland), as well as working on several regional newspapers.

Since 1993, I have provided professional copy-editing, proofreading and other literary skills to publishers, academics and businesses, as well as private individuals. I have worked as an editor in the UK, and as an editor and writer of English textbooks in Hong Kong.
