I can help you communicate effectively by:

  • checking your writing for spelling, grammar, clarity, and consistency;
  • copy-editing in depth;
  • refreshing existing text;
  • helping you structure your written ideas;
  • creating marketing copy;
  • translating Spanish into English.

AND . . .

If you’re struggling to put your thoughts on paper, I can turn your ideas into words that flow.

My latest client said: “Jeremy brought a much-needed clarity and lightness of touch to a recent grammar project. He was, as usual, incisive, efficient, and a pleasure to work with.”

My passion is to empower you to “say” exactly what you mean.

I’ll ensure it is easy to understand, consistent, and engaging.

I’ll find the right tone of voice for your readers-and for you. And it will be perfect grammatically and stylistically.

Hardcopy, Word files, or pdfs are the formats I work in.

If you want me to quote, I’m happy to do so after seeing a representative sample.

If you’d like to discuss what you have in mind, a phone call is often easier and quicker than an email.

Being a lexicographer, I use words with precision. My experience of copy-editing runs to thousands of hours, and I have management, publishing, and civil service experience.

I edit texts from diverse disciplines and in different formats, from academic articles to websites to books.

Recent clients include Teach Yourself (Hodder & Stoughton), HarperCollins, Oxford University Press, and Sacred Knowledge.

A former Editor-in-Chief of Collins dictionaries, and editor of the prestigious Fowler’s Dictionary of Modern English Usage, I am also a published author.

My degrees in Classical languages and Spanish and my knowledge of French, Italian, and German often help in my editing work.

I look forward to working with you.
