About Me: I pride myself on providing a professional and expert service with the personal touch. I do my utmost to establish strong, personable relationships with all of my clients – each one as individual as their respective project. I remain unflustered in the face of new technologies and tight deadlines, and I embrace the variety that each new project brings.
Education: I have a BA (Hons) in Spanish and French from the University of Strathclyde and an MSc in Translation Studies: Translation and Professional Practice from the University of Glasgow.
My MSc dissertation project, which achieved a distinction, focused on the partial translation of the French medical textbook Pathologie neurologique périnatale et ses conséquences (2010) (Perinatal Neuropathology and its Consequences) by Claudine Amiel-Tison and Julie Gosselin. Selected chapters were translated for a medical professional audience and they took the form of a medical textbook. These chapters were then retranslated for an audience with no medical knowledge and took the form of a magazine article.
Internships & Mentorships: I successfully completed an internship with HarperCollins Publishers in 2014 and a SfEP Proofreading Mentorship in 2016. I am experienced in proofreading blind, against copy and on screen using track changes.
Medical Project Experience: Orthopaedics (proofreading and copy-editing of translated scientific articles relating to orthopaedic surgery).
Non-Medical Project Experience: Property (copy-editing and copywriting of property brochure information).
Areas of Interest: Neurological physiotherapy, all fields of medicine, animal charity work.
