I became a copyeditor and proofreader in October 2020, not long after gaining my MSc. I then joined the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and became an Intermediate member through gaining experience and undertaking training. I have most recently undertaken a course on developmental editing for nonfiction and hope to offer that as a service in the future. Contact me if you’re interested!

 Services:

– Nonfiction copyediting
– Nonfiction and fiction proofreading
– Academic journal article formatting
– Dissertation and thesis copyediting, proof-editing, and proofreading
– Citation/reference formatting

My academic background is in psychology, with an MSc in Comparative and Evolutionary Psychology from the University of St Andrews and a BSc in Biology and Psychology from the University of Stirling.
Since beginning to work in editing, I have helped multiple academics and nonfiction writers with their journal articles, PhD theses, and books. For example, I copyedited and proofread the book Mould to Mould by Ian Macilwain; helped research, checked sources for, and edited many articles for Hyfe, a respiratory-health focused company; and copyedited the article “When deciding to translate means risking your reputation” (as well as a post-doc application, teaching post application, and other articles) by Ye Tian.

I’ve also proofread for Launchpad, a charity working to end homelessness in my hometown, and currently copyedit for the Ben Ledi View magazine, an award-winning community newsletter.

I offer nonfiction copyediting, fiction and nonfiction proofreading, journal article formatting, and citation formatting. I am familiar with APA, Chicago, Harvard, and other citation styles. I can work on documents from MS Word and alternatives like Google Docs or LibreOffice (doc, docx), InDesign (INDD), and Adobe (pdf).
