Getting Your Message Across

About Me

I am a skilled fiction and academic editor and proofreader and a Professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. This means that I am able to help you make the most of your manuscripts, whether they are essays, journal articles, non-fiction books or novels. My business, Beech Editorial Services, is based in the outskirts of Glasgow where I live with my husband and two of my three adult children.

Academic Editing

I am an experienced editor and proofreader of academic dissertations, theses and journal articles. My specialisms are the Arts and Social Sciences, Management and Business, and Education, but I am able to work in a range of other areas – just ask. I use UK English, am a native English speaker and have extensive knowledge of Anglicisation. Please note that I do not work with AI-generated material.

Fiction Editing

Authors retaining their authentic voice is very important to me and I will work collaboratively with you to ensure this is achieved. I am very experienced in line and copy edits and in proofreading for authors like you planning to submit to agents and publishers.  My love of language and knowledge of the literary landscape is brought to my clients’ work and I take pride in helping them fulfil their dreams. I am a published and self-published author (as Colette Coen), with short stories appearing in a range of publications, including Mslexia, the Writing Magazine and Postbox. In 2024 I was the Federation of Writers Scotland’s Scriever and judged the 2025 short story competition for the Scottish Association of Writers.
